It’s a bit sad, because today was never going to live up to yesterday or the day before. That said, neither of us had the energy to move a muscle.
Our Airbnb host Carlos was really decent and said that we could stay until this evening regardless of the fact that our check out time was 11:00. We had to be out of the room, but the living space was just as big, so we moved everything out and then started packing. Taking full advantage of Carlos’ generosity, we even washed all of our dirty clothes and put them out to dry before having lunch, and then for the rest of the day done pretty much nothing.
We took the 21:00 bus from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado, but instead of booking the cheapest option like we’ve done previously, this time we chose to book through an app called Busbud, which we found by accident in Canada and used to book trips between Vancouver, Kelowna and Seattle. The best thing about the app is that it gives details of the specific bus you’ll be taking. This time for example, we went for a bus with Wi-Fi, extra leg room and movies on the way.
Abbie also made a genius move and requested English subtitles for the movie so that we could actually understand what was going on. We watched Maze Runner, which was actually pretty decent, and went to sleep after. My only complaint is the fact that the bus driver didn’t realise when he left the menu screen on for seven hours after the movie had finished, so we had to sleep to the sound of background music. Other than that though, it was an absolute winner. Another pretty dull day, in advance of another mini adventure…
