No more volunteering for us (this year atleast)…
We got up early today, packed everything away, had breakfast and then got a ride to Campbelltown Station. From there it was a train to Wynyard and then a bus to Dee Why, where we met up with Meg and Jake, two of our best friends from back home! Jake’s cousin Tom and his girlfriend Alex live in Dee Why so let us hang around at theirs for a while, but we didn’t really get up to much. Abbie and I were shattered and the others were jet lagged, but it was so surreal seeing their faces again after six months apart – back home we are lucky to go a week without seeing each other.
Jake and I took a walk down to the beach for a swim, leaving the girls behind to catch up over a few ciders, and then later in the day we all went to a local restaurant for dinner. It’s strange how after just a few hours together it felt as though we hadn’t been apart at all, but there was still something missing. For ages I’ve been hanging on to the idea that our other friends Dan and Karen to show up too, but that was never going to happen really. Me and my wishful thinking eh?
Our day didn’t ever really take off, but was kind of being treated as a rest day anyway. You just wait to find out what we’re gonna be getting up to together!
