Well, Christmas Eve too, but finally it actually felt like it as well…
Day 215 – Saturday 24th December 2016
We walked to the local farmers market this morning to buy parsnips, then went on a mission to try and find a trifle which proved absolutely impossible. After that it was straight back to the apartment to watch Suicide Squad, before taking a bus to Hurtsville late in the afternoon, having a nice meal at Westfield, then keeping up with Abbie’s tradition of visiting the cinema on Christmas Eve. We watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (which was awesome), then took a taxi home and went to sleep ahead of the big day tomorrow!
Day 216 – Sunday 25th December 2016
Today was without doubt one of the most memorable Christmases we’ll ever have. We started with a Baileys Cream Coffee, opened a few cards and presents, then wandered down to Ramsgate Beach for a swim:
After than we headed home to get started on Christmas dinner, which for the first time in twenty four years I actually helped with instead of just relying on somebody else to cook for me (thanks mum):
Almost immediately after eating the food coma commenced, and although we napped for maybe an hour we still found time for a couple of photographs by the tree:
We spent the evening eating peanuts, pretzels, pudding, and just about anything else we could get our hands on, watched a couple of Christmas movies, and then fell asleep again. I’ve never had a Christmas day like it, and doubt I ever will again, but would I change a thing? No chance!
