Taking laziness to a new level…
We’re generally quite active and busy people, but not over the past couple of days – you know it’s been slow when the most you’ve done is hold a rod for a few hours.
Day 235 – Thursday 12th January 2017
As much as I wanted to I didn’t take off my top once today in an attempt to avoid further sunburn. I tried to stay in the shade as much as possible to avoid adding a t-shirt tan to my already sun kissed torso, but still managed to fit in considerable swimming time. Thankfully by the evening I looked a little more like myself again, but now with a slight glimpse of an actual sun tan. About time too, it’s only taken seven months!
Day 236 – Friday 13th January 2017
You know those things that you just can’t see yourself enjoying? Well for me, one of those things is fishing. Lo and behold, this morning I woke up at 05:45 and joined two of the others to make sure that we could be out on the lake for high tide. I was actually quite excited, learned how to cast a fishing rod properly and fancied my chances of catching something for dinner, but despite my enthusiasm things really didn’t go our way! After about three hours on the water we finally gave up, after catching nothing but a baby pufferfish. So much for beginners luck eh?
The combination of starting early and sitting out in the heat for so long caught up with me real hard and fast in the afternoon! Even after going for a swim I couldn’t keep my eyes open, so had to go for an afternoon nap. It took long time to fall asleep and I found myself fidgeting loads, but nodded off eventually and slept for over two hours. When I finally woke up, in a puddle of sweat once more, it was time for dinner already.
Surprisingly enough I wasn’t tired come bed time, probably because I slept for so long during the day, so ended up having quite a late night. Part of me felt like the afternoon had been wasted, but the other part of me wasn’t fussed. What’s the point in travelling the world if you can’t have a day off from time to time?
