The inconvenience of bus travel…
Today we hoped to take a bus from Nha Trang to Hoi An, fully aware that it’s a good ten hour journey, with the intention of arriving in the evening. That plan completely fell through – it turns out that there’s only one bus and it departs at 19:30, the complete opposite of what we wanted. Beggars can’t be choosers though, so we just got on with it.
We decided against another day at the beach but didn’t know what else to do so headed out on a bit of an aimless voyage with no real destination in mind, then ended up walking for about two hours before turning around and walking all the way back again. In all honesty we didn’t really see much of interest, but for once it was nice not having to worry about where we were going or what we were doing.
When we finally got on the bus it turned out to be the exact same as the one that we took between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang, which gave us an opportunity to actually make the most of the sleeper style seats:
We didn’t even stop for dinner along the way, which wasn’t a problem for us as we’d already eaten, but caused problems for loads of out fellow travellers who ended up going hungry. Still, better them than us eh?
