Days 324 & 325 – Tuesday 11th & Wednesday 12th April 2017

Slowing things down a bit…
Because there’s only so much you can do when it’s 43℃ isn’t there?

Day 324 – Tuesday 11th April 2017
We had to wake up at 04:45 this morning for the Sunrise Tour which started at 05:00 and lasted two and a half hours:

It was nice to watch the sun come up but other than that the tour was almost identical to the Ghats Tour that we took a few days ago when we first arrived in Varanasi, which was a little bit disappointing to be honest.
Anyway, back at the hostel we stayed up for breakfast which took us to 09:00 (by been awake for four hours already), then jumped back into bed for a while. When we finally got up again at around 14:00 we had two options: 1) go out and do something productive, or 2) be lazy and wait until 15:30 for free chai. I’ll leave you to guess which option we went for!
The hostel started to fill up later in the afternoon, and by dinner time we had a full dorm, which was much nicer than yesterday when the place was half empty. We joined a few others for dinner, then stayed up quite late playing cards. Typical isn’t it – our last night in Varanasi and the place finally starts to liven up! Oh well, better late than never.

Day 325 – Wednesday 12th April 2017
We had to check out of our dorm by 10:00 this morning, but it was more like 11:00 by the time we actually moved our things into the storage room.
At around midday Abbie and Jasmine visited Blue Lassi, a tiny yoghurt shop with a huge reputation (that’s been open for over ninety years), but I couldn’t be bothered so stayed behind. Our new friend Lance went with them though, and he’s a big guy, so I knew they were in safe hands!
We left for Varanasi Junction at around 16:00 to catch our overnight train to Jaipur, which was due to depart at 17:35 but didn’t actually show up until 19:15.
Our carriage, AC3 class, was one grade lower than last time but still considered upper tier. In our cabin we had six beds, and by some crazy coincidence Lance was in one of them, so for one night only our little group of three became a group of four.
