Day 326 – Thursday 13th April 2017

Our eventual arrival in Jaipur…
This morning, for some completely unknown reason, we woke up to find ourselves nearly five hours behind schedule. Our train was originally due to arrive in Jaipur at 13:00 and didn’t end up getting there until nearly 17:00, but as Abbie says, “you can’t be late if you haven’t got anywhere to be”:

As soon as we arrived at Jaipur Junction a swarm of tuk tuk drivers surrounded us. First they told us that their prices couldn’t be beaten (even though Uber was nearly six times cheaper), then moved on to the fact that our hostel was absolutely awful (despite the fact that it was voted Best Hostel in India 2017). We tried to politely reject them a few times but their persistence was rather intimidating, so in the end we found a couple of security officers and stood right next to them until our taxi arrived. Problem solved.
It was gone 18:00 by the time we finally reached Zostel, so we checked in, dropped off our bags, then headed straight out for something to eat. Accompanied by Chris (who we met at Madpackers last back in Delhi) and Ardo (who was a bit strange and kind of tagged along but didn’t do any harm) we walked just around the corner to Hotel Royal Sheraton, where we bumped into Andrew (who we also met at Madpackers) over dinner.
Funny isn’t it, how all five of us went our different ways last week, but ended up in the same place at the same time again by complete coincidence? Who knows, maybe we’ll bump into even more Madpackers again along the way…
